WISE NYC METRO CHAPTER NAMES NBA AVP TO BOARD AS MENTORING CHAIR

  



NEW YORK, N.Y., (January 10, 2022)
– The NYC Metro Chapter of Woman In Sports & Events (WISE) today announced that it has appointed Cheryl Stallings, associate vice president of content for the National Basketball Association (NBA) to its board of directors.

Stallings has global responsibility for overseeing digital and sports content for development, production and programming in international markets. She has spent most of her 25+ year career with the NBA, initially as a logger and working her way through the ranks as producer, director of production, and senior content director.

As a member of the NYC Metro Chapter board of directors, Stallings will oversee the chapter’s WISE Within Mentoring program, which matches members at various career stages with mentors who can offer expertise and knowledge to help them advance to the next level in their careers.

Chapter President Van Adams said, “Cheryl shone as a mentor in the WISE Within Mentoring program and is active in the NBA’s internal leadership efforts, making her the ideal candidate to lead the way as our program evolves to keep pace with the current demands of the industry. She will help us develop strategies for integrating mentoring into our full program calendar – keeping the power of mentoring at the forefront year-round.”

Stallings has received extensive recognition for her work including an Emmy nomination for The Announcement, featuring Earvin “Magic” Johnson, in 2013, the coveted Gracie Award for creating original programming for, by and about women; multiple Telly Awards for outstanding film and video contributions; BW Applause, Kaleido and e4m Neons Awards. With NBA India in 2020; she was the SABRES APAC 2020 winner for special event & non-corporate associations for the NBA India Games. She won the Promax Gold Award for Hoop Nation, a 2020 docuseries. Awards on digital and experiential marketing around NBA India games including Gold for Best Performance-Driven Social Media Campaign; Gold for Best Digital Campaign for Sports Enterprise in 2019 and is a three-time winner of advertising industry’s largest and most distinctive award – American Advertising Award (formerly ADDY) – in 2011.

She holds an MBA in Sports Management, Interdisciplinary Business from Seton Hall University and a BA in Mass & Media Communications, and recently complete the WISE Executive Leadership Institute Program at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
