About

Chapter Committees

Volunteering is a fantastic way to network with fellow members and build meaningful relationships! Committees collaborate closely and meet either in person or via teleconference as needed, based on the committee’s preferences. Each committee is led by a chair who works directly with a designated NYC Metro Chapter board member to advance the WISE mission. Please note: all committee volunteers must be current members of the NYC Metro Chapter.

Marketing Communications + Digital/Tech

This committee is the powerhouse behind the NYC Metro Chapter’s digital media and marketing communications efforts. We’re looking for chapter members with key skills in social media strategy, activation/production, content development, copywriting, graphic design, marketing, public/media relations and IT/technology, including content management and website maintenance.

As the chapter’s most robust committee, this group ensures all communications are on-brand and adhere to established style and branding guidelines. They are responsible for creating and managing the chapter’s newsletter, event ticketing, social media content, promotional content, digital elements and various branding elements. Collaboration is key as the committee works to maintain a cohesive and professional presence across all platforms for members and the public.

Membership

The Membership Committee is focused on growing and retaining our community of women in sports business across the NY metropolitan area. They lead membership recruitment campaigns aimed at attracting women from sports organizations such as pro teams, agencies, facilities, media entities and more to join WISE as Corporate Members. By analyzing member data, they ensure our efforts are both targeted and effective.

The committee also plans and executes our quarterly “Member Meet-Up” networking events, including the popular Summer Kick-Off event. These gatherings provide opportunities for members to connect, engage, and learn more about the benefits of being a WISE member.

We’re seeking volunteers with expertise in data analysis to help shape programming and strategic decisions. Ideal candidates should be proficient in CRM systems, able to track trends, and provide insights that drive recruitment, retention, and engagement. Experience in event planning and community outreach is also essential for supporting our initiatives. If you're passionate about building connections and fostering an inclusive environment, we’d love to have you join the Membership Committee!

Partnerships

As a non-profit networking organization, we rely heavily on partners and alliances to deliver programs and valuable resources to our members.

The Partnerships Committee is vital to the success of the WISE NYC Metro Chapter, driving revenue through corporate partnerships, event sponsorships, and securing promotional offers exclusively for members, such as the popular Summer Fun deals. This committee plays a key role in enabling the chapter to deliver high-quality programs, resources, and event experiences to our community. Volunteers must have experience in partnership sales, sponsorships, and business development, with the ability to leverage industry networks to create meaningful connections.

The partnerships committee collaborates closely with the Membership Committee to identify and engage new corporate partners, ensuring alignment with our chapter’s goals. It also includes a Fundraising Subcommittee, which leads efforts to reach potential donors and identifies various fundraising opportunities, such as in-app, retail, and dining initiatives, to support chapter programming.

We are seeking volunteers with experience in sponsorship sales, partnership marketing, new business development, brand management, and fundraising. If you have expertise in grant writing, donor relations, or have worked with non-profit organizations, that’s also a plus. If you are passionate about and have experience in building strategic partnerships and supporting the growth of our chapter, we would love to have you join the Partnerships Committee!

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee is dedicated to offering members targeted learning experiences and fostering deeper connections through smaller-scale activities. This committee focuses on identifying key industry topics and essential professional skills needed to advance in sports business, ensuring that members gain valuable insights and connections.  Key initiatives include two virtual Dine & Learn sessions (spring and fall), which focus on professional skills development and industry trends, and two Book Club sessions (spring and fall), where the author is always in attendance, providing an exclusive opportunity to engage directly with celebrated thought leaders.

Volunteers with event planning experience and an understanding of career progression, especially in talent acquisition or HR functions, are encouraged to join this committee. Your expertise will help provide members with relevant, high-quality professional development opportunities, with a focus on skills needed to ascend the career ladder and stay ahead of industry trends.

Program Panel Events

The Program Events Committee is the driving force behind the educational programming that delivers on the mission of our organization. As the heartbeat of our industry learning initiatives, this committee plays a key role in curating impactful events that educate both members and non-members on current sports business topics. This committee coordinates four major panel discussions per year, including our signature Power Play event in celebration of Womens History Month.

Committee members should be well-networked in the sports business industry, have a strong understanding of the landscape, and possess the ability to curate breakfast panels that attract attention and introduce the audience to authoritative voices and visible leaders in sports business.

Volunteers with programming, event planning, and talent sourcing experience, as well as a solid network, are encouraged to apply.  We are looking for individuals who can manage event details, secure top-tier speakers/facilitators, and stay on top of the latest developments in sports business. Experience with non-profit organizations or associations is a plus.

Special Events

The Special Events Committee is responsible for organizing the NYC Metro Chapter's annual Women of Inspiration Awards Reception, held each December. This committee is dedicated to creating an unforgettable event that celebrates the accomplishments and achievements of female leaders in the sports business industry.

Ideal candidates for this committee have experience in event planning and production, are creative with a keen sense of attention to detail and are looking to focus on a high-profile, large-scale project each year. A background in working with non-profit organizations or associations is a plus. If you're passionate about crafting impactful events that honor the success of women in sports business, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
